Rodger Correa, Compliance Marketing Director of the Business Software Alliance joins Inside Mac to explain some interesting results from their recent poll where they asked college students around the country about their plans to purchase computer hardware and software. Rodger explains that although about 75% said they were planning to purchase hardware or a new computer, but over 60% also indicated they knew where to download free or pirated software illegally. Rodger shares some piracy statistics, fines, and the overall impact that stealing software has on developers. He noted that one of the main factors involved in stopping piracy is education and notes that the majority of people reported they would no longer obtain software illegally once they knew the risks. Rodger also discusses the role that the Business Software Alliance plays in minimizing these global issues.
