David Strohmeier, Independant Editor joins hosts Scott Sheppard & Brad Wright to share his experiences transitioning from an analog film to a digital video workflow. David, has worked for a variety of TV and movie studios most recently completing a documentary for Warner Brothers Home Video, called "Cinerama Adventure". The documentary features a historical look at the work of filmmaking pioneers from the 1950’s-1960’s who worked in Cinerama which were shown on a 146ft. curved widescreen.
David explains how they were able to recreate the effects by converting the 3-film originals to a digital format in the proper aspect ratio and they using the "Smilebox" technique were able to curve the digital view to mimic the original style in a clean, vivid, Blu-Ray format perfect for viewing on today’s high-definition widescreen TVs.
David claims he is "bi-lingual" using both Avid and Final Cut Pro to edit the films. He explains how he was able to save time by using a unique Final Cut Pro plug-in that automates first editing cuts called "First Cuts for FCP" by The Assistant Editor, developed by our own Philip Hodgetts.
